What can I expect during Slime Rancher's Early Access period?

We realize that a lot of developers have structured their Early Access in different ways so we would like to ensure you know what to expect with Slime Rancher's Early Access:

Slime Rancher will receive two different kinds of updates throughout its Early Access development: minor patches and content updates.

Minor patches will generally fix bugs and make other minor adjustments and changes to ensure the current Early Access build of Slime Rancher is fun and stable. Minor patches will always be identified by the third number in our version numbers. Example: 0.2.2, 0.2.3, etc

Should we need to do a quick, impromptu patch, it would be denoted with a letter. Example: a quick patch to 0.2.3 would be 0.2.3b

Content updates are more significant updates that include new content to experience which may include: new slimes, new areas to explore, and other new game features. Content updates will always be identified by the second number in our version numbers. Example: 0.3.0, 0.4.0, etc.

Because we don't want players getting burned out waiting for new content, we'll be sure to make an announcement when new content updates are made available. Simply sign up for our newsletter and we'll mail you when something has been added worth checking out. In the meantime, feel free to play other awesome games or explore the Not-So-Far Range in your own backyard!

We're setting these expectations because Monomi Park is a small, independent developer. And while we think Slime Rancher is shaping up to be a great game, content takes time to build and we want to ensure everyone knows what to expect as they embark on this journey with us.

Is there a development roadmap?

Yes, a broad development roadmap can be found here. Please note that this roadmap is subject to change.

In order to effectively develop new features or have the flexibility to change existing features, we reserve the right to make saves incompatible with new versions, as needed. It is our intention to do this with content updates, though game development is often unpredictable.

When I try to play Slime Rancher the camera just keeps spinning. Help!

This is often caused by a gamepad being plugged in but not used or controller emulation software running in the background. Additionally, disabling 'vJoy' drivers in Control Panel/Devices and Printers may also fix this issue.
